On 12 October 2026, the Animal Research and Service Centre (ARASC), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) welcomed an academic visit from a delegation of medical students from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Jawa Timur, Indonesia.

The visit aimed to provide the students with exposure to the facilities and animal-based research activities conducted at ARASC. Key highlights of the programme included an introductory session on the use of animal models in biomedical research, as well as a live demonstration of laboratory animal handling and restraint procedures carried out in accordance with established ethical and animal welfare guidelines.
