Kemasin Beach Plogging Programme 2026
On 19 August 2026 (Wednesday), a total of 13 staff members from the Animal Research and Service Centre (ARASC), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) participated in the Kemasin Beach Plogging Programme as part of their commitment to supporting environmental conservation and the sustainability of public beaches.
Through this initiative, 84.5 kilograms of solid waste were successfully collected and removed from the beach area. The collected waste included plastic bottles, glass bottles, discarded slippers, iron rods, and metal wires, all of which have the potential to pollute the environment and pose risks to both visitors and marine life.
The participation of ARASC staff in this programme reflects their environmental awareness and social responsibility towards protecting natural ecosystems, in line with efforts to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of ecosystem conservation and sustainable waste management.
